Working Hard and PDCA cycle.

Hard work is always required for success. But simply working hard is always not sufficient. Despite your very best effort, you may not have achieved what you want to be or where you want to be in life. But only it comes true if you are doing the right thing at right time in the right order.

Truth is, working hard is required to achieve your goals but simply working hard is not enough. Does always hard work lead to success? The answer is NO. Then let us look at what we can do along with hard work to achieve your goals to be successful.

Tips for success and achievement

1. Explicitly determine what you are trying to achieve – Here you need to think, that is to be done on paper, not only on your mind. More time you spend on planning, the faster you will achieve your goal. A simple thumb rule on this is that every minute you spend on planning, you will be saving 9 minutes in achieving your goal.

Once asked Albert Einstein, what will you be doing given an hour to avert a terrible accident that may destroy the world. He said I will be spending my first 55 minutes on planning, and the remaining 5 minutes executing the same.

2. Have the best plan in place – Think what is the best plan, you need to work smarter not harder. You may seek a third person’s advice when you are deciding if you are not sure.

3. Periodically check your progress and look for improvements. So make sure that you don’t blindly follow your goal, but you need to be adaptable when needed. Flexibility is the most important factor in taking you a long way ahead in a business or work. Be flexible, adaptable, and open-minded to be successful.

This is explained by the PDCA (Plan – Do – Check – Act) cycle as well in detail. Hence it is highly required you to plan, then while carrying out the plan, check where we are in terms of the goal, and act accordingly by being flexible. But checking has to be carried out on set frequent time intervals while doing a self-evaluation.

Moreover, it will be helpful if you can make a checklist of points on which you will be doing your self-evaluation, and give a certain weightage to each point to be more interesting and to check your improvement.
